Regarding: Monthly Dive Club Meeting
Date: Sunday June 7, 2009
Place: Richardson's Ocean Park
Time: around 10:00 AM

We are on for our monthly meeting at Richardson's Ocean Park this Sunday June 7, 2009.

You and your family and/or friends are very welcome. We generally bring food to share with the group. There is usually a BBQ if you want to BBQ anything. We usually do at least one dive and some people do 2 dives. You have to supply your own equipment and you must be certified. You can rent tanks at Nautilus in Hilo on the preceding Saturday. People are welcome to attend and just do the BBQ and/or any other water sports such as snorkeling, body boarding, swimming etc (in other words non-divers are welcome too).

Directions to: Richardson's Ocean Park is located on Kaianianaole St. If coming from Volcano make a right at the next traffic signal on Hwy 11 past the airport. It's about 4 miles down and the last visible park on the left. Don't be confused with the other parks before it. Click Here to check it out on Mapquest and you will see where it is.

You can't beat the dive for its price. It's a beach entry but you need to swim out past a small break. (200 yards) Then it's a basic dive to about 60'. Lots of wild life and the water is clear. Oh, I forgot, for the swim back you need to save a little energy.

As for gear, I use the NAUTILUS DIVE CENTER 382 Kamehameha Avenue Hilo, HI 96720 (Downtown Hilo District) Tel. (808) 935-6939. I think it's $8 for an 80cf tank. He's closed on Sunday so you have to rent on Friday or Saturday and return it on Monday.
