Dive
Hilo Dive Club is a SCUBA club focused on the east side of the Big
Island of Hawaii. Our monthly meetings are the first Sunday of the
month and include friends and family who participate in all other
water sports and ground support. This is an opportunity for Hilo
side divers to meet one another, find dive buddies, schedule more
strenuous dive activities. It is also for friends and families of
divers to share in a water-sports beach day and a pot-luck BBQ.
Warning: they have been known to point and laugh as we don our gear.
We
gather at Richardson's Beach Park around 9 or 10 am, decide whether
to dive at all, dive at Richardson's or dive another location. Weather
does not influence us much; we have easy-ups and have only been
rained out only once in three years! Those not diving focus on the
pot luck BBQ and put in time kayaking, boogie boarding, snorkeling
or just watching for whales. The "meeting" remains at
Richardson's. This is not a club with by-laws, elections, rules,
fees, etc. We maintain a benevolent dictatorship, have a real "meeting"
if there is an issue and otherwise just get together for fun.
The
club does not sell anything, sponsor classes, provide services or
take responsibility for divers in any way. This is a social organization.
We leave the professional stuff to the Dive Shop.
Welcome
to Scuba in Paradise!!
